Today, we're introducing you to the founders and staff of TFT HK. We'd also like to thank our wonderful interns, Sophie Yang (of CUHK) and Allison Dommu (at CUHK, on exchange from the New School in New York), for all of their help!!
TFT Founders
Stephanie Tan
Stephanie is a Senior Vice President of Asia Financial,
a Hong Kong listed
company that focuses on insurance
, investments in
retirement funds, health care providers, and other sectors.
Stephanie received her Bachelor of Arts degree from
Claremont McKenna College in Economics and Studio Art. After graduating, she
worked at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in New York. Stephanie’s passion is food.
She attended the French Culinary Institute in New York where received her
diploma in culinary arts. Shortly after, she worked at Alain Ducasse Enterprise in communications and
marketing.
Stephanie is also a wine enthusiast and holds an
Intermediate Certificate from the London-based Wine & Spirits Education
Trust. Stephanie is a member of Social Ventures Hong Kong and a representative
of the Family Business Network Pacific Asia.
Katy Yung
Katy is an Associate Director at Sterling Private
Management Ltd., a private family office in Hong Kong. Her current role focuses
on sustainable and impact investments as well as philanthropic activities of a
specific portfolio. Formerly an investment banker at J.P. Morgan Securities
(Asia Pacific) Limited.
At J.P. Morgan, Katy founded "JPMorgan Gives
Back", an employee volunteer network in Hong Kong as a pilot for the rest
the Asian offices. She also initiated and mobilized employees on several firm-wide disaster fundraisers.
Katy is an avid explorer of the food scene and previously pursued internships
with the Maxim’s Group in Hong Kong, M on the Bund in Shanghai and was a food
editor for her university’s newspaper.
Katy graduated from Duke University in North Carolina
with a BA in Economics and a minor on Comparative Area Studies. She plays the
harp and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 2
candidate.
TFT Staff
Miya Dunets
Miya is the TFT HK Social Media and Educational Outreach
Manager. She also serves as the Director of English and Community
Relations at Ivy Gate Learning Center. She received her BA in biology from
Dartmouth College, worked in equity research in NYC, and completed her graduate
degree in English and American Literature (focusing on ecocriticism,
ecopsychology, and agricultural politics) at NYU before moving to Hong Kong in
2010. She has also interned and volunteered with numerous nonprofit organizations focused on
issues of environmental conservation, sustainable food systems, and educational
equality.
Robin Brown
Robin is the TFT Partner Relationship and Operations
Manager. She holds a degree in International Relations from the
University of San Diego, owned a business for ten years, and engaged in
community outreach and development for a foster youth program in Seattle.
She is a wine enthusiast, holds the Advanced WSET Certificate, and enjoys teaching wine courses in her spare time.
Yu Cao
Yu grow up in mainland
China, and achieved a BBA (First Class Honor) in
Marketing from Hong Kong Polytechnic
University, garnering
several scholarship while achieving his degree. He
spent more than one thousand hours organizing and participating in community
service projects in both Hong Kong and mainland China, several of which won in social service
learning competition organized by his university. He is now working at Social
Ventures Hong Kong as an Associate.
Maggie Fung
Maggie received her BA in Accountancy from Hong Kong Polytechnic
University. She
worked at STAR TV for 14 years and was an Associate Vice President responsible
for the financial reporting of the Group. After spending a year with her two lovely daughters, she decided to
fully devote herself to Social
Ventures Hong Kong in 2010.
